About the Author
Roslynn D. Haynes
During the process of writing about the Australian desert and Tasmania I have become increasingly aware of the many components of place – the physical scenery that is, itself, a product of geology and climate; the cultural factors that permit us to notice and respond to particular kinds of landscapes – fiction, poetry, biography, painting, photography, films, music; and the environmental concerns and responsibilities that come with this awareness.
Exploring these interdisciplinary facets of place and their complex interactions has been an absorbing journey, during which I have been fortunate to talk with many writers and artists about their work. I enjoy sharing these experiences in illustrated lectures and/or more informal pictorial presentations at conferences, in workshops and with environmental interest groups.
